The Moomin family live in Moominhouse in Moominvalley surrounded by their friends and extended family. Their daily lives and adventures are shown through wonderful comics, books and animations which are so fun to watch due to all the different and unique personalities! Although the Moomins have been around since 1945 they are as charming and entertaining as ever, so much so there is a new animated series airing this year! (Trailer is below).
A bit about the Moomins…
The Moomins were created by Finnish artist Tove Jansson whoc was born in 1914. Legend has it that the Moomins used to live behind Tove’s ceramic fireplace before moving to Moominhouse, which is why their house looks like a ceramic fireplace! They seem to have been much more comfortable here than the sooty fireplace. The Moomins are open and accepting of everyone which is how they come to take in people such as Little My who is rather fiery but overall a happy and friendly person. There are also a number of odder characters such as the Hattifatteners (finger like creatures) who travel in herd towards the horizon, and once reached, continue on again! They used to creep me out as a kid but now I find them rather cute :3.
With such a fan following and the announcement of the 2019 animated series there are lots of new fun games and features for us to enjoy! One I enjoyed was the ‘Which Moomin character are you?’ quiz (can’t resist a quiz), from which I found out I was Snufkin! :3
